IT ALL STARTED WHEN…

I retired from the day job about 3 years ago. I had been on the go for nearly 50 years since I left school (is that enough experience?) As a trainee manager in a department store, to a Dunnage merchant on Liverpool Docks, to starting my own company, then companies - good times and bad both personally and professionally meant that when i was 40 I went to university - originally a technical HND, I found I loved learning, and decided to carry on to obtain a good degree in Business informations Systems, which saw me understand the good and bad points of computers!

Turned out into the workplace again, with my experience in business I went contracting working on rollouts for large companies - Compaq, EDS (names only some of you might remember - but big in their day), I worked in Paris and Germany for Cisco, all the while working my way up - team Leader, Project Manager and then Programme Manager looking after large rollouts of IT systems - the DWP, MOD and the Foreign Office. I set up my own company afterwards and ran 20+ staff and networking engineers and contractors for the MOD - did that last bit for 15 years or so: And then I finished: - someone mentioned brain tumour, I was rushed in to have an op - they took something out, prognosis was fine, so I said that’s it - let’s enjoy ourselves a bit more, we wrapped things up with the company - and hey - here we are… how about that for life’s experiences - oh BTW there’s a lot more too :)

Now the idea was to sell my services here on Redvespa, but after some thought: that really shouldn’t be the ‘be all and end all’ for me - so my ideas have changed a little. Yes somewhere here you can still hire me to build you a website and help promote it etc. - I would enjoy that, but the idea is also to chat about what I’m doing, meet some interesting people, have some discussions and a little bit of social comment and interaction!!

Can we help people understand technology? Older people, that would be good - in an unfair world where the NON-Techies or older generation who just haven’t bothered about computers - well they are treated badly - paying higher prices for service contracts, insurances and then contacting Government, Councils and the like becomes very hard - Can I enlighten people - maybe…

Blokes!! - as there seem to be so much around for the ladies - they always were better at making friends and looking after each other - giving succour - whereas blokes, fellas, whatever we’re called are rubbish!!! Needs to change - can we discuss?

I’m going to do some travels on Ruby the red Vespa, walking trails and hills, meet some interesting people and photograph and write about them - sell a few things from me, and some from the more interesting people that I like and will do business together - well, that’s the idea…

Anyway - that’s what it will be about - I don’t do Facebook, might have a go at Instagram - not sure what twitter is about - so just enjoy the pages here - don’t slag me or anyone else off - be nice, be cool - have an adventure and look up!!
